Boston Gear, in its application of lean manufacturing to the supply chain, has initiated a Strategic Sourcing Initiative (SSI) for helical and spiral bevel gears to support the redesign of our 800 series speed reducers. The projected annual spend is in excess of $200,000 spread over about 200 part numbers. Those suppliers selected will be rewarded with 5 year agreements and the opportunity to grow with Boston Gear as new products are developed to meet the evolving needs of our customers. The SSI process is relatively simple and straight forward. If you are interested in this opportunity, or need more information, please contact Heather Davis, Senior Supply Chain Analyst, as soon as possible since she will be the project manager for this initiative. We have attached a non-disclosure agreement that will need to be signed and returned to Heather as soon as possible and a supplier survey to evaluate your ability to meet Boston Gear requirements. After Boston Gear’s receipt of the non-disclosure agreement, a quotation package of a select group of 15 of the “old design” part numbers (since we will not have “new design” part numbers drawings begin to be available until June) will be sent to you. After receipt and review of the survey and the quotation, we will do a site audit of your facility and conduct negotiations. If you pass these requirements, Boston Gear would invite your company to enter into a supply agreement of 5 years or more in length. To be considered for this opportunity, your company must be currently producing AGMA 12 gears and both helical and spiral bevel gears. The request for quotation and supplier survey must be completed and returned no later than Thursday, May 28th 2009.
